About the Course

Participants will receive a theoretical introduction to the current landscape of (assistive) technologies in therapy and rehabilitation, including virtual reality, artificial intelligence, alternative control systems, AAC, smart homes, robotics, and more. The course will also cover important topics like ethics and data protection, and provide tools to assist with decision-making.

In the practical component, participants will work in groups on real-world examples, giving them the opportunity to create their own tools. The training will emphasize the use of AI tools and the development of alternative computer input devices.

Goals

The goal of this training is to demystify technical innovations and demonstrate that even with minimal prior knowledge, therapists can use technology to design and develop tools that enhance occupational therapy practice. This approach allows therapists and other healthcare professionals to broaden their scope of practice, equipping them to better advise and support their patients in using assistive technologies.

Who is this Course for

Health-care-professionals, Members of MTD (Medizinisch-technische Dienste) in Austria (especially Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, Physiotherapists, Dietitians), or the equivalent within the EU
